Mac
Mac - The one that started it all (1976)

It all started when Jim was ten years old with a Toy Manchester Terrier named Mac. Manchesters have been a part of his life ever since. He was just a young child when he went to his first dog show with a neighbor and since then he has become a familiar face in the conformation ring. After graduation from college and settling into a career in financial services he decided it was time to start his breeding program.

The Burmack Kennel has had unparalleled success with Manchesters in both the conformation and agility venues. As well, Burmack bred and co-owns one of the only Toy Manchesters competing in weight pulling events. In conformation Burmack owns the top winning Toy Manchester male of all time. Over the past decade the Burmack record speaks for itself: six National Specialty wins, eight breed wins and a Group placement at the prestigious Westminster Kennel Club show, and six breed wins at the AKC/Eukanuba Classic. They also have owned the highest ranked Toy Manchester in AKC competition for eight years. In the 2006 and 2007 while their emphasis in the ring has changed from campaigning a special to developing a consistent breeding program, they have consistently have two or three dogs in the top 20 rankings of Toy Manchesters each year. Burmack owned dogs are also no stranger to the Best In Show award both in the US and in Canada, and have won the breed at the prestigious Crufts Dog Show in England and have won twice at the World Dog Show. While Burmack has concentrated on the Toy Variety, they are no stranger to the Standard Variety owning the top ranked Standard Manchester in 2005.

Blitz is a Toy Manchester that Jim bred and co-owns with Arlene Spooner. Arlene trains Blitz and has led him to a new record in for Toy Manchesters in agility having achieved a MACH 17. What a team they make!

Burmack’s well thought out breeding program is focused on producing quality pets as well as dogs for the show ring. Focusing on temperament and health Burmack breeds to produce dogs which adhere as closely as possible to the Breed Standard. Jim was recently honored by the American Kennel Club (AKC) with the prestigious Gold Medallion for finishing ten dogs over the past year from the Bred By Exhibitor class.

Jim is active in the American Manchester Terrier Club (AMTC). He has previously served on the AMTC Board of Directors and as their Treasurer and health committee chair.

If you are considering a puppy or an older dog as an addition to your family, please take this decision seriously – it is a major long term commitment. Please ask about health issues, temperament, contracts and guarantees before choosing the breeder for your new dog. At Burmack, we strive to provide well socialized, healthy companions.
